About Smart Systems
Smart Systems is an audio, video and smart home integration company in Hixson, Tennessee, just outside Chattanooga. It has been in business since 2002. Most of its work is commercial and residential AV, including conference rooms, home theaters, whole-home audio, security cameras and network infrastructure for AV systems. Golf simulator rooms are one part of its residential work, not its main business.
Its golf projects are mostly about the audio, projection and control around a simulator that is already in place, or about upgrading one. The two it describes in detail show this. In a basement room, the existing screen stayed, and the crew replaced the projector with a new Canon model on a Chief ceiling mount, added a 4.1 surround sound system, and installed a Control4 system that runs the room from a remote or an iPad. In a bonus room over a garage, which already had a hitting bay, a turf floor and a Trackman launch monitor, they added sound and control. Here is how they describe that job, in their own words: "We added both without disturbing the simulator setup."
Two details from that bonus room job matter. The single in-ceiling speaker sits between the projector and the downlight so it clears the swing path, because a speaker in the wrong spot gets in the way every time someone swings. The projector's audio also feeds a Sonos amp, so the overhead speaker plays whatever the projector plays, whether that is the simulator software or a movie. A power conditioner protects the equipment in the cabinet, and the room runs on the same Control4 app as the rest of the house.
