About First Galena
First Galena is a home builder and remodeler in Galena, Illinois, at 9332 US Rt 20 W, and golf work is one of its services. The company started in 1980 as a real estate, architecture and home building business, added modular and panelized construction in 1990, and says it has built over 600 homes with a licensed architect on staff.
Here is how they describe their golf work, in their own words: "Nathan Studtmann expanded his family's home building business First Galena to include golf simulators and performance studios." Nathan is a PGA member who designed and built the company's first modular golf performance studio in 2016. First Galena has teamed up with Design2Golf for materials and products. It also sells Carl's Place products as a lower-cost option, including pop-up enclosures, impact screens, hitting mats, and wall and ceiling protection.
The modular studios are delivered turnkey to a golf facility, a driving range, or a backyard. The hitting bay has a 10 foot ceiling, which matters because a club raised at the top of the swing needs the headroom. Mobile options include travel trailer studios and a modular studio built on a trailer, which an instructor can take along if they leave a facility. Travel trailer designs come in 8 and 10 foot widths, and the 10 foot width requires permitting for travel. Panelized studios can be pulled by a large pickup.
They publish a $900 concept plan and a $4,000 site visit and concept plan, which includes travel. Contractor plans are quoted on request. They do not publish a full build price, an install timeline, or a warranty. Financing is through Brickhouse Capital, which they name as a partner. The office is open Monday to Friday, 1 to 4 pm, with Saturdays by appointment, at 815-777-4700.
This is a good fit if you want a golf studio designed by a PGA professional and built by a company that also handles home construction, or if you want a mobile studio you can move to a range, a course or a backyard.
