Should Your Golf Simulator Come From an Independent Installer or a Brand Dealer?

ETX Golf Simulators, an East Texas installer, greets visitors with one line in capital letters: "We Are INDEPENDENT!" Full Swing, at the other end of the market, designs its simulators, sells them, and installs them with its own team. Choose the structure by which decision is still open. If the launch monitor brand is unsettled, an independent can put several brands into one room plan and one quote. If you already know the brand you want, a dealer or the manufacturer keeps training, parts, and the warranty channel inside a single relationship. Either way, the structure decides who advises you, whose catalog the advice draws from, and who answers the phone when something needs service.

What does independent mean on an installer's website?

An independent installer sells and installs equipment from several manufacturers without belonging to any one of them, so the advice and the brand are separate decisions. The companies that organize themselves this way tend to say so in plain terms, because the structure is their pitch.

ETX Golf Simulators states it most directly of any company in our directory. Under its all-caps banner, its homepage names equipment partners including Carl's Place, Foresight Sports, ProTee United, Uneekor, TrackMan, SIG, Rapsodo, and BenQ, and states its aim as "impartial information that helps you discover the best systems and combinations for your specific needs."

Golf Pro Delivered calls itself a "brand agnostic golf sim installer" on its purpose page, which also records the company's founding in May 2016 by PGA professional Jeff Wibben. The same page lists installs across eight simulator technology companies: Foresight Sports, TrackMan, Uneekor, About Golf, OptiShot, SkyTrak, TruGolf, and Ernest Golf.

Golf2U, an installer publishing service areas in Florida, the New York metro area, and the Northeast, states the position bluntly on its Miami page: "We're not a retailer that dabbles in installation. Installation is what we built this company on." The page adds a claim worth holding any independent to: "Every product we sell, we've personally installed and used."

What is a brand dealer or partner?

A brand dealer is a company a manufacturer authorizes to sell and install its simulators, with training, parts, and marketing support flowing down from the brand. GOLFZON's dealer program page shows what that pipeline contains: dealers carry its TwoVisionNX and GDR MAX simulators, onboarding includes sales and installation training with one session at the dealer's showroom and two at customer build sites, and the brand supplies "a dedicated project manager for installation logistics and communication" plus ongoing technical support by phone, email, and remote diagnostics.

The pipeline runs past training. GOLFZON's page also lists co-branded marketing materials, product photography, brochures, spec sheets, and CAD files and layout diagrams for dealers, plus a dealer portal for order management and lead tracking. A polished floor plan for a brand's simulator two days after your first call usually comes out of that machinery.

The relationship can also be chosen loyalty with no formal program attached. Home AV Pros, a family-owned AV integrator serving Wisconsin and northern Illinois that builds its installed golf packages on Carl's Place gear, gives the reasoning in one sentence: "the gear holds up, the team answers the phone, and the build quality looks right next to a high-end theater room." (Why an AV company is building golf bays at all is its own question, taken up in our guide to who should build your golf simulator.)

The furthest point on this axis is manufacturer-direct. Full Swing sells home simulators from its own catalog and installs through its own team, describing white-glove service with dedicated project management, and it prints starting prices: Sport Series from $44,900 and Pro 2.0 from $54,900, listed on its home simulator page in August 2026.

Three structures behind a simulator quote

The same finished bay can arrive through any of these arrangements. What differs is who you are in a relationship with.

Where does a dealer structure serve you better?

A dealer structure works in your favor when you already know which brand you want, because product training, parts, and the warranty channel all run through one relationship. GOLFZON trains its dealers on its own hardware at onboarding and again at customer build sites, a depth of repetition on a single product line that a cross-brand catalog necessarily spreads across many.

The warranty channel is the second advantage. Hardware warranties come from the manufacturer, and the buying channel can decide whether they apply: Uneekor, for one, honors its warranty only on hardware bought from its own store or authorized resellers. A dealer sits inside the authorized channel for its brand by definition.

Manufacturer-direct adds a third point: one accountable party from sale through installation, and, in Full Swing's case, starting prices in print before anyone visits your house.

Training claims are checkable. Ask a dealer when its installers last completed the brand's training and how many of that brand's bays the crew built this year. A current dealer answers both in a sentence.

Where does an independent serve you better?

An independent structure pays off when the launch monitor decision is still open, because one company can put several brands into the same room plan and the same quote. That breadth is the consistent pattern across the three independents above: ETX names eight-plus equipment partners, Golf Pro Delivered lists eight simulator technology companies it installs, and Golf2U ties its recommendations to products its own crews have installed and used.

Breadth matters most in constrained rooms. If your space forces a choice between a ceiling-mounted and a floor launch monitor, a company that can quote both kinds is never in the position of making its one product fit.

Budget range is the other place breadth shows. ETX's partner list runs from DIY-oriented names like Carl's Place and Rapsodo to TrackMan at the top of the price range, so one conversation can move up or down the price ladder without changing companies. A single-brand relationship starts and ends inside that brand's range.

Golf Pro Delivered's PGA-professional founding points at the other independent claim, which is advice framed around your golf rather than around a catalog. You can check that claim on any company, independent or dealer, by asking how the recommendation would change if your handicap, your room, or your budget did. Both structures appear side by side, metro by metro, in our builder directory.

Does the structure change what you pay?

No published pattern shows one structure reliably cheaper than the other, and the sample is thin: most of the 92 builder sites we read in August 2026 publish no prices at all. The exceptions sit on both sides of the line. Full Swing prints starting prices for its own hardware, and Home AV Pros prints installed package tiers on its Carl's Place page, at starting prices of $8,500, $22,000, and $48,000 by tier. Installed-package pricing across the wider market is charted in our cost guide.

What the structure does change is how the number is built. An independent's quote itemizes hardware from more than one catalog, so you can see what swapping a launch monitor does to the total. A dealer's quote wraps one brand's hardware and the installation into a single figure backed by the brand's pricing. Comparing the two takes a line-by-line read, and our quote guide walks through what any quote should itemize before you sign either kind.

✦ Pro Tip
Two questions sort any company

On the first call, ask which brands the company can sell and install, and which brands it installed in the last 90 days. The first answer tells you the structure. The second tells you whether the structure is current practice or an old logo wall.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between an independent golf simulator installer and a brand dealer?+

An independent installer sells and installs equipment from several manufacturers without being owned by or committed to any one of them; ETX Golf Simulators and Golf Pro Delivered both describe themselves this way on their own sites. A brand dealer is authorized by one manufacturer, such as GOLFZON, to sell and install that manufacturer's simulators with its training and support behind the work. Full Swing goes a step further and sells and installs its own product line directly.

Does buying through a brand dealer cost more than hiring an independent installer?+

No published price data shows either structure reliably cheaper. Printed prices exist on both sides of the line: Full Swing lists starting prices for its own hardware, and Home AV Pros prints installed package tiers built on Carl's Place gear. Room work, hardware tier, and scope move a quote far more than the seller's structure does, so compare itemized quotes line by line.

Does choosing a dealer or an independent change your warranty?+

The hardware warranty comes from the manufacturer whichever structure you buy through, and manufacturer warranties can be conditioned on where you buy. A brand's dealer keeps you inside its authorized sales channel; with an independent, ask which channel your launch monitor ships through before you sign. The manufacturer-by-manufacturer terms are in our support guide.

Can an independent installer sell you any launch monitor brand?+

Only the brands it carries, and that's usually a named list well short of the whole market. ETX Golf Simulators names partners including Carl's Place, Foresight Sports, Uneekor, TrackMan, and Rapsodo, and Golf Pro Delivered lists eight simulator technology companies it installs. Ask for the brand list in writing, because a company can be independent and still narrow.
